About the Role
We are excited to invite applications for a Teacher Librarian to join our vibrant Plenty Campus community. This is a part-time, ongoing position (0.6 FTE), where you will lead the Library reading and research program for students in Years 7 to 12. This onsite role runs Monday to Friday, with flexible hours available.

As a Teacher Librarian, you will work closely with a dedicated campus library team of three, as well as collaborate with a cross-campus team to deliver exceptional library services that support learning and teaching across Ivanhoe Grammar School. Your role will be pivotal in enhancing the library's contribution to our students' educational experience.

Your Everyday
Working closing with the Curriculum Leaders, as the successful candidate you will:

  • Cultivate a passion for reading, literacy, research and learning within the school community.
  • Facilitate a Library learning environment, including virtual platforms that encourage student engagement.
  • Utilise a variety of evidence to inform teaching and learning practices to create and deliver engaging and innovative learning experiences to suit individual student needs.
  • Demonstrate excellence in teaching approaches including ways to scaffold learning experiences.
  • Foster a welcoming and stimulating library environment that provides for the wellbeing of our students.

About You

Appropriate qualification in Teacher Librarianship, i.e., relevant teaching and librarianship qualifications as approved by ALIA (Australian Library and Information Association).

  • Current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) Registration.
  • Experience working in a contemporary school library or learning resources centre.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with students and colleagues.
  • Passionate about student learning and professional growth.
  • Up to date knowledge of contemporary teaching application and theory.
  • Highly competent in the use of library digital technologies including library management systems.
  • Passionate and knowledgeable about young adult literature.
