Seeking a Director of Mathematics
We are seeking an accomplished Mathematics educator with the ability to inspire students, lead staff and foster a culture of excellence in Mathematics across the School.
This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), ongoing teaching opportunity with a three-year Position of Leadership tenure as Director of Mathematics. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Academic Learning, you will provide strategic, instructional and operational leadership for Mathematics across Years 7–12 at all campuses, while maintaining a strong connection to classroom teaching and student learning.
Working closely with Heads of Faculty, Faculty Coordinators and Academic Leadership colleagues, you will lead curriculum development, evidence-informed teaching practice, assessment, faculty performance and professional growth, ensuring a cohesive and high-performing Mathematics faculty across the School.
This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on Mathematics education through strategic leadership, quality teaching and faculty development across Years 7–12.
What you will do
As Director of Mathematics, you will work collaboratively with academic leaders and teaching staff to strengthen student learning outcomes and build a culture of excellence in Mathematics education.
In this role you will:
- Lead the strategic direction, implementation and continuous improvement of the Mathematics curriculum across Years 7–12 at all campuses.
- Teach Mathematics and model exceptional classroom practice that reflects Ivanhoe’s Instructional Model and evidence-informed teaching approaches.
- Oversee and support Heads of Faculty and Faculty Coordinators to ensure consistency, quality and alignment in curriculum, pedagogy and assessment practices.
- Use student achievement data to drive decision-making, improve learning programs and maximise student growth and progress.
- Lead faculty-wide professional learning, coaching and development initiatives that strengthen teaching practice and instructional capability.
- Contribute to and lead school-wide learning and teaching projects as a member of the Academic Leadership Team.
- Manage faculty operations, budgets and planning processes in alignment with School priorities and strategic goals.
Who you are
You are an accomplished Mathematics educator with the ability to inspire students, lead staff and foster a culture of excellence in teaching and learning across the School.
You will ideally bring:
- A relevant teaching qualification and current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration.
- Demonstrated experience in educational leadership and leading teams to achieve improved student outcomes.
- Evidence of outstanding classroom practice and the ability to model high-impact teaching strategies.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum design, assessment practices and evidence-informed pedagogy.
- Experience using data to inform teaching, monitor performance and drive continuous improvement.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong and productive relationships across a large and diverse school community.
- A collaborative leadership style and a commitment to coaching, mentoring and developing others.
- A strong commitment to child safety, innovation and educational excellence.
