Job Description

A school is built on the strength of its people.

Great people make great schools. People create culture.

At Ivanhoe Grammar School, our people create a culture of belonging. A place where ideas are heard and supported. Where you are encouraged to try something new. A place to feel included and valued. Ivanhoe Grammar School is a values-driven, co-educational independent school with a commitment to fostering a community where students, teachers and professional services staff can continually become the best version of themselves. At Ivanhoe Grammar School, we are always looking for great people to join our team. We are always seeking people who are energetic, collaborative and courageous.

Seeking a ELC Co-Educator

The ELC Co-Educator plays a meaningful role in shaping the early learning experience of our youngest learners — supporting a play-based and inquiry-led environment where every child feels known, safe and deeply curious about the world around them.

This is a part-time (0.6 FTE - Monday, Wednesday and Thursday) ongoing position, commencing January 2026, in our thoughtfully designed ELC at Buckley House — created for play, belonging and connection.

What you will do
Reporting to the Director of the Early Learning Centre, you will work as part of a highly collaborative educational team alongside ELC Teachers and fellow Co-Educators, and in close connection with the Head of Buckley House, families and the broader School community. Though employed within Ivanhoe’s Professional Services stream, this role functions day-to-day as an integral contributor to the ELC learning environment — actively shaping a culture of belonging, curiosity and care.

In this role you will:

  • Support the delivery of a play-based, inquiry-led learning program that nurtures each child’s agency, identity and wellbeing.
  • Help create and maintain inspiring indoor and outdoor learning environments that invite exploration and joyful discovery.
  • Build warm, respectful and trusting relationships with children and families, grounded in professionalism and Ivanhoe’s Child Safe values.
  • Contribute actively to team planning, reflective practice and the ongoing development of our Quality Improvement Plan.
  • Demonstrate initiative, reliability and alignment to Ivanhoe’s values through your daily actions, communication and professionalism.

Who you are
You are a warm, attentive and collaborative early childhood professional who is energised by being part of a purpose-led team. You care deeply about every child feeling known, safe and empowered — and you see play, relationships and curiosity as the foundation for joyful learning.

You have the necessary experience, knowledge and skills:

  • Experience working in an Early Learning Centre or similar setting, with a sound understanding of the EYLF, VEYLDF and National Quality Framework
  • An ACECQA-approved qualification in Early Childhood Education and Care (Certificate III or Diploma)
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust with children, families and colleagues
  • A strong commitment to child safety, inclusion and wellbeing, supported by a valid WWCC or VIT
  • A solutions-focused, growth-oriented mindset with high professional standards
  • The capacity to work collaboratively, reflectively and with initiative as part of a future-focused educational team

What we offer you

  • A meaningful role within a thriving and values-driven learning community, where every child’s wellbeing and growth is deeply prioritised.
  • The opportunity to help shape a child’s very first experience of Ivanhoe — nurturing belonging, curiosity and a lifelong love of learning from their earliest years.
  • A collaborative, student-centred team culture where wellbeing is prioritised.
  • Opportunities for professional growth through the Ivanhoe Institute and school-led wellbeing programs.
  • Beautiful learning environments with access to state-of-the-art facilities, including onsite café, gym and pool.
  • Salary packaging, discounted health insurance and school tuition discounts.

Always seeking great people. Your move.
