Seeking a Science Laboratory Assistant

We are seeking a Science Laboratory Technician to join our Plenty Campus, Doreen.
This full-time, ongoing, term-time only role supports the delivery of innovative science programs through practical learning experiences.

What you will do  
As a key member of the Professional Services team, reporting to the Curriculum Leader - Science, you will provide day-to-day support in the Science Labs — working closely with science teachers and the wider school community to ensure lessons run smoothly and spaces are safe, organised and well-prepared for learning.

In this role you will:

  • Ensure all laboratory activities are effectively managed and supported.
  • Care for flora, fauna and other specimens in accordance with ethical and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare apparatus and chemicals for practical classes and demonstrations.
  • Monitor stock, order materials and manage requisitions.
  • Maintain laboratories and preparation areas to a high standard of safety and cleanliness.
  • Ensure compliance with Hazardous Substance Risk Assessments and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

Who you are 
You’re a practical, detail-oriented team player who enjoys supporting engaging science learning experiences. You bring initiative, reliability and professionalism to everything you do.

You have the necessary experience, knowledge and skills:

  • Experience working as a laboratory technician (school setting highly regarded).
  • Diploma of Applied Science, Certificate IV Laboratory Technician or equivalent.
  • Chemical Safety qualification desirable.
  • Experience with PASCO Data Logging highly regarded.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children.
