A school is built on the strength of its people.

Great people make great schools. People create culture.

At Ivanhoe Grammar School, our people create a culture of belonging. A place where ideas are heard and supported. Where you are encouraged to try something new. A place to feel included and valued. Ivanhoe Grammar School is a values-driven, co-educational independent school with a commitment to fostering a community where students, teachers and professional services staff can continually become the best version of themselves. At Ivanhoe Grammar School, we are always looking for great people to join our team. We are always seeking people who are energetic, collaborative and courageous.

Seeking a Teacher Librarian

Teacher Librarians play an active role in fostering a culture of reading, inquiry and independent learning across the School. Working collaboratively with teachers and the library team, this role helps students build strong literacy, research and digital information skills through engaging programs and learning experiences.

This is a part-time (0.6 FTE), maximum-term position for Term 1 2026, as part of a long service leave replacement at our Ridgeway Campus.

What you will do
Reporting to the Head of Library Services, you will collaborate with classroom teachers, curriculum leaders and the cross-campus library team to enhance student learning across Years 7–12 and support the delivery of high-quality literacy and research programs.

In this role you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging library programs that promote reading and research skills
  • Collaborate with teachers to support curriculum delivery and information literacy across subjects
  • Support students in developing effective research, study and digital literacy skills
  • Promote a welcoming and inclusive library environment that supports student wellbeing
  • Contribute to library initiatives, events and the curation of print and digital resources

Who you are
You are a collaborative and student-centred educator with a passion for literacy, research and supporting independent learning. You believe libraries are active learning spaces — where students are empowered to think critically, read widely and engage confidently with information and digital tools.

You have the necessary experience, knowledge and skills:

  • Appropriate Teacher Librarianship qualifications, with current VIT registration and eligibility for ALIA membership
  • Experience working in a contemporary school library or learning environment
  • Extensive knowledge of young adult literature and a passion for promoting a culture of reading
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate confidently with students, staff and parents
  • Strong capability in digital research tools and library technologies, including the use of platforms such as Accessit, LibGuides or similar
  • A demonstrated commitment to child safety, inclusion and student wellbeing, aligned with Ivanhoe Grammar School’s values

 What we offer you

  • The opportunity to contribute to a dynamic Years 7–12 library and learning program at our Ridgeway Campus
  • A collaborative, student-centred team culture where wellbeing is prioritised.
  • Opportunities for professional growth through the Ivanhoe Institute and school-led wellbeing programs.
  • Beautiful learning environments with access to purpose built and designed facilities, including onsite café, gym and pool.
  • Salary packaging, discounted health insurance and school tuition discounts.

Always seeking great people. Your move.
