Seeking a Director of The Ivanhoe Institute

This is a full-time academic leadership role that combines strategic oversight of professional learning and leadership development (0.6 FTE) with classroom teaching (0.4 FTE). As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will lead a whole-school approach to instructional practice, capability building, and leadership growth — grounded in the Ivanhoe Learning and Teaching Framework and Ivanhoe Charter for Leadership.
Based at the Ridgeway Campus, the role reports to the Head of People and Culture and works in close partnership with the Director of Academic Learning, academic leaders, and pastoral leaders to embed a culture of research-informed teaching, reflection, and shared leadership.
The position will commence in Term 1 2026 (or a date by negotiation) and will hold a 5 year Leadership tenure.
What you will do
The Director of The Ivanhoe Institute is a highly visible academic leader who champions professional learning and leadership development across the School. As part of the Senior Leadership Team, you will influence teaching practice, support leader growth, and contribute to shaping the educational direction of Ivanhoe Grammar School.
In this role you will:
- Lead the continued expansion of The Ivanhoe Institute as a recognised centre for professional learning and educational research, including partnerships with universities and networks.
- Champion the consistent use of the Instructional Model and Universal Practices to lift teaching quality and student outcomes.
- Oversee a structured, evidence-based coaching framework with clear outcome tracking and measurable impact on teaching and learning.
- Deliver research-informed professional learning aligned to strategic priorities and growth measures.
- Develop a strategically aligned leadership growth program for all levels of leadership, with a focus on personal growth and wellbeing.
- Maintain and enhance a cross-campus online learning platform with rich resources for teaching, compliance, and professional development.

You have the necessary experience, knowledge and skills to:
- Lead at an strategic level, developing people and influencing across the School.
- Combine strategic vision with operational excellence to drive whole-school professional learning, coaching, and leadership growth.
- Champion our values of character, innovation, and student-centred learning with a deep understanding of contemporary teaching and research-informed practice.
- Hold relevant tertiary qualifications in education, coaching, or leadership (postgraduate highly regarded) and experience working across multiple campuses or large, dynamic teams.
- Uphold the highest standards in child safety and inclusive practice, with current VIT registration.
- Bring a growth mindset, resilience, and emotional intelligence to a collaborative leadership style.
