Seeking a Casual School Nurse
We are seeking a casual School Nurse to join our Plenty Campus, Doreen.
This rare opportunity allows you to join a small, highly skilled, supportive team during peak periods, periods of leave, and school camps. This position will begin in Term 3, July 2025, with a commitment of 2 to 3 shifts per week throughout the Term.
A School Nurse at Ivanhoe Grammar School provides primary healthcare services, promotes health and wellness, and offers first aid and health education to students and staff.
What you will do
The School Nurse is a key member of the School community. Reporting to the Nurse in Charge, the successful candidate will:
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of school nursing, practicing ethically,
- adhere to relevant legislation, advocating for children's rights,
- promote health for the school community, ensuring a safe environment,
- communicate effectively and collaborate with others for comprehensive care,
- recognise research relevance and provide first aid services and health information,
- provide emergency nursing care, liaise with medical practitioners and parents, and prevent accidents,
- maintain accurate medical records, manage student plans, and ensure safety equipment and supplies are available.
Who you are
You have the necessary experience, knowledge and skills:
- Division 1 - Registered Nurse, with a current AHPRA registration and Working with Children’s Check (WWCC),
- proven adaptability and readiness to work flexibly and be available on call,
- First Aid HLTAID012 or HLTAID011 and Anaphylaxis, high desirable,
- experience working with school based systems - Synergetic and Seqta is high desirable,
- demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of school nursing, including child and adolescent health & development,
- confidently coordinate, organise, and provide health promotion with a whole-school approach,
- strong interpersonal skills to facilitate collaborative practices and provide comprehensive school nursing care.
