Seeking a Teacher of Science
The Teacher of Science is a member of the Academic Staff based at the Plenty, and plays an active role in the intellectual, social, emotional and personal development of students, supporting the School’s commitment to holistic education and a culture of character.
This is a full-time, ongoing teaching position commencing in January 2026, with a focus on VCE Chemistry and/or Biology, as well as Science for Years 7–10.
What you will do
Reporting to the Head of Pedagogy and working closely with the Curriculum Leader, you will collaborate with colleagues across year levels and subject areas to deliver cohesive, focused learning aligned with the School’s Instructional Model.
In this role you will:
- Deliver purposeful, research-informed learning using Ivanhoe’s Instructional Model — Warm Up, New learning, Dive In, Reflect
- embed universal practices such as clear learning intentions, formative assessment, and student agency through goal setting
- create calm, inclusive classrooms that support curiosity, collaboration, and high expectations
- monitor and support student learning and wellbeing using a range of data, feedback, and professional judgement
- contribute to house life, co-curricular programs, and wider campus initiatives with visibility and enthusiasm
- engage in reflective practice and professional growth through coaching, collaborative planning, and shared learning that lifts team capacity and student growth.
Who you are
You are a reflective and purposeful educator who believes that learning and character are deeply connected. You value the potential of every learner and understand that high expectations and strong relationships create the conditions for growth and personal success. You bring:
- Experience teaching in a school context, holding a relevant qualification, ideally with postgraduate qualifications in Education, Curriculum or Pedagogy
- well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with students, staff, parents and community partners
- a demonstrated commitment to child safety and inclusive practice, including a valid VIT registration
- a solutions-focused mindset, high professional standards and a commitment to character education
- the ability to model and build a culture of respect, reflection and responsibility
- a desire to continually learn, grow and support the growth of others
