Job Description

A school is built on the strength of its people.

Great people make great schools. People create culture.

At Ivanhoe Grammar School, our people create a culture of belonging — a place where ideas are heard and supported, where collaboration is valued and where individuals are encouraged to grow. As a values-driven, co-educational independent school, we are committed to fostering a community where students and staff can continually become the best version of themselves.

While there may not always be a current vacancy, we are always seeking great Primary teachers who are passionate about education and interested in contributing to the life of the School. This may include classroom teachers, individual needs teachers or specialist teachers in areas such as Art, STEM, Sport or Languages. If you are an educator who would like to be considered for future opportunities in Primary, we invite you to submit an Expression of Interest.

What it means to teach at Ivanhoe Grammar School

Teaching in the Primary years is about much more than delivering curriculum. Our teachers nurture curiosity, confidence and character while supporting each child’s academic, social and emotional growth.

Our Primary teachers:

  • Create engaging and purposeful learning experiences using the School’s Instructional Model – Warm Up, New Learning, Dive In, Reflect
  • Foster calm, inclusive classroom environments where children feel safe to explore ideas, ask questions and develop independence
  •  Work collaboratively with colleagues to plan learning programs and strengthen teaching practice
  • Build strong relationships with students and families to support each child’s development
  • Support student wellbeing and growth through high expectations, care and positive relationships
  • Contribute to the broader life of the School through camps, House activities and co-curricular programs

Submitting an Expression of Interest

If you would like to be considered for future opportunities, please submit an Expression of Interest outlining your areas of expertise, interests and experience.

Our People and Culture team will review submissions and may be in touch should an opportunity arise that aligns with your background.
